Living amongst the colony of 200,000 King penguins near the Antarctic ice-cap and during 40 days of live-action filming, Nigel explores the real-life drama and experiences the day-to-day soap opera of their lives. This week-long series was filmed over forty days during October and November, the Antarctic spring, amongst the spectacular wildlife and jaw-dropping scenery of the island of South Georgia. I became friendly with the penguin stars and a supporting cast of other animal characters, as they spent the short spring courting, breeding, laying eggs, bickering and eventually feeding their newborn babies!
