Play On is the third studio album from American country artist Carrie Underwood. It will be released in the United States on November 3, 2009. The first single, "Cowboy Casanova", was released to country radio on September 14, 2009. In addition, three promotional singles were made available to iTunes prior to the release of the album.

Background:

The album is named after the song Play On. It was reported that Carrie had been working with R&B singer Ne-Yo but she is not sure if the song that they wrote will make it to the album, stating that she's "not sure if it fits within the context of the rest of the album." The song did not end up making the final cut.One of the tracks entitled "Look At Me" was previously recorded by country singer, Alan Jackson, on the Billy: The Early Years soundtrack. Vince Gill is reported to sing background vocals on the track.Mama's Song was revealed courtesy of Billboard on billboard.com on October 11, 2009.
The tracklist was revealed on insideREVOLUTION.net on October 1.Mama's Song was made available by iTunes on October 12 followed by "Temporary Home" which was released on October 20 and "Undo It" which was released October 27. Billboard.com also will post a 60 second clip of each song being released on iTunes prior to the release of the album 48 hours in advance before the iTunes release.Thirty-second clip is available for all the songs in the Denmark and Germany Amazon.
Mama's Song sold more than 31,000 copies in its debut week On October 16, 2009, Underwood made a promotional stop in Singapore to promote her upcoming album to the Asian media. The album will be released on Nov. 2 in Singapore and various parts of Asia, followed by a Nov. 3 release in the United States.According to press release, Carrie Underwood will head to New York City to celebrate and promote her new album Play On. While in the Big Apple, Underwood will perform on The Late Show with David Letterman on November 2, perform a special outdoor concert at Lincoln Center on Good Morning America on album release day, and will round out her week with a visit to Live with Regis and Kelly on November 5.
On October 31, 2009, Play On full album was prematurely leaked to the internet, the title track Play On and Someday When I Stop Loving You has surfaced on You-tube.
