Buffy Summers has the lifestyle any young woman could want. Cheerleading, dating the captain of the basketball team, and copious amounts of time spent shopping with friends. She had no idea of her true calling until a mysterious man named Merrick approached her and told her that she is the Slayer; one woman called to defend the world from vampires. Reluctant to concede to the fact, Buffy soon learns that Merrick speaks the truth and so begins to take her new life seriously while trying to maintain the sense of normality her life had once been. Buffy Summers (Kristy Swanson) è un\'allegra majorette del liceo Hemery, nel Sud della California, che ama essere alla moda e uscire col suo ragazzo. In città avvengono infatti da un po\' di tempo misteriose morti, che si verrà a sapere essere opera di un vampiro collaboratore di Lothos (Rutger Hauer), il capo di una congrega che si amplia ad ogni nuova vittima.

È importate l\'incontro con Oliver Pike (Luke Perry), un giovane a cui Buffy pian piano si affeziona, il cui migliore amico (David Arquette) è stato vampirizzato. Durante gli scontri, Merrick muore contro Lothos, e Pike resta l\'unico amico e punto di riferimento per Buffy. Durante il ballo di fine anno della scuola, i vampiri si intrufolano nella discoteca, scatenando il panico generale. Buffy, che inizialmente aveva deciso di abbandonare l\'incarico, sostenuta da Pike, riesce a sconfiggere i vampiri e il loro capo, Lothos.

Buffy (Kristy Swanson) est une pom pom girl populaire au Lycée Hemery à Los Angeles jusqu’à sa rencontre avec un homme du nom de Merrick Jamison-Smythe (Donald Sutherland). Il lui apprend qu\'elle est La Tueuse - une jeune femme née avec une force et une habileté supérieures à la moyenne et dont la destinée est de lutter contre les vampires. Elle admet s\'être vue en rêve combattre des vampires et accepte finalement son \"destin\".

Après une brève formation, elle doit affronter un maître Vampire appelé Lothos (Rutger Hauer), qui a éliminé un certain nombre de Tueuses par le passé. Lothos tue Merrick. Dans une bataille dont le point culminant a lieu pendant le bal de son lycée, Buffy tue Lothos et ses larbins, grâce à son style contemporain ignorant les conventions et les limites des précédentes Tueuses. Il s\'agit là d\'une première version de l\'allégorie de l\'émancipation des femmes, qui constitue la pierre angulaire des versions ultérieures de Buffy contre les vampires. Elle rencontre un homme qui ressemble à Spike qui lui donne la force de tuer Lothos.
